For Birgit

The making of this doll was very special for me since it was requested from one of my best friends.  We now each other since we have been little girls growing up next to each other spending most of our time deep into the woods and fields of our village, at the farmstead of her family with lots of animals and farm life going on all year round or in the ateliers of my parents.
This special friend was also my midwife when I gave birth to my little son.
This Knecht Ruprecht Companion Doll is individual handmade in Austria with love and great attention to detail. Only the most exquisite materials made from all natural fibers and organic materials where possible are used.
Its head and body is sculpted in the traditional Waldorf style and its facial features are hand embroidered. Knecht Ruprecht Companion Dolls have a simple bottom, simple hands and feet. Arms and legs are moderately curved, freely movable, allowing natural postures. All Knecht Ruprecht Companion Dolls are soft to the touch and stuffed firmly with 100% organic washed and carded wool.

The soft 100% cotton doll tricot skin is available in five different shades from Marzipan to Chocolate and is approved in accordance with the Oeko-Tex Standard 100, Class 1 certification. It is made in Switzerland and it is a very high quality fabric which is used and approved since years for the purpose of Waldorf Doll making. This fabric is very resistant and allows a long lifetime of the dolls I make.

Nearly all wool and felt materials used for my dolls are coming from the local farmers collective Manufaktur Haslach. This Collective supports different rare and endangered species of sheep and organic farming, no pesticides or chemicals are used. The wool is only washed with soda, mild soap and warm water.

The hair is made of Mohair yarn and is perfect for combing and styling to unleash a child’s creativity. The dolls hair is hand stitched on the dolls head in a way that it can be finger combed. Longer hairstyles can be braided.

This Knecht Ruptrecht Doll is made in a smoke free and pet free environment with love and great attention to detail. Each and every doll I make is unique and handmade by myself.

Calendula Lavender Salve and Lip balm

As every year we gave something special and homemade to relatives and friends as a little christmas present. Back in summer we had lots of homegrown Marigolds blooming in our garden and since this is one of my favorite healing herbs I started to make Calendula infused oil, this medical oil is simple to prepare and has many uses. I stored the oil in the fridge and before christmas I made Calendula Lavender Lip Balm and Calendula Salve following this tutorial and it turned out great. A soothing and healing Salve to use on little scratches, cuts and chapped lips

Wishing You and Your families a very merry Christmas

Wishing You and Your families a very merry Christmas. May this season greet You with health, plenty of warmth and happiness.
This year we used some christmas tree balls each mouth blown by Thom in his traditional glas workshop and a lot of straw stars to decorate our christmas tree. Some of the straw stars are very old and made by my grandmothers sisters many yeas ago.
This is the sweet beeswax nativity scene my little five year old son made at Rosas Waldorf Kindergruppe to give it to us as a christmas present.

Über Sterne über Sonnen

A lot of play happens here at our Ostheimer nativity scene. Yesterday I even found a well sleeping little Panda inside the crib in the barn.
Über Sterne, über Sonnen,
leise geht Mariens Schritt.
Lauter Gold und lichte Wonnen,
nimmt sie für ihr Kindlein mit.

Wenn Maria heilig schreitet,

von der Sterne Chor geschaut,

wird von ihrer Hand bereitet,
was zur Weihnacht' niedertaut.
Ruft die Sonne, auf zu weben
für des Kindes lichtes Kleid,
bittet dann den Mond zu geben,
ihrem Kindlein Glück und Freud'.
Alle Sternlein spannt sie singend,
an den großen Wagen an.
Ziehet durch den Himmel klingend,
kommt so auf der Erde an.

Martinmas

We had a beautiful Martinmas celebration and Lantern Walk with Campfire and Lantern Songs in Rosas Waldorf Kindergruppe. Martinmas is one of my favorite festivals as bringing light to the darkness with our fragile paper lanterns is such a special event for our children each year.

For Sofia Nr. 2

I just completed this Companion Doll for Sofia.

Look who joined the shooting by accident! Sometimes they are allowed to be outside their chicken fence as soon as the salad and the garden vegetables are harvested. My chickens are very friendly, when I enter the garden a clucking herd of hens is following me all the way through the garden because they think their might be some food for them.
